COP28 saw momentum on climate action continuing to build. More ambition is still needed to accelerate progress—so it can be measured in months not decades.
Negotiations at COP28 concluded with the “UAE Consensus”. One notable element of which was the agreement on a global “transition away from fossil fuels in energy systems, in a just, orderly, and equitable manner, accelerating action in this critical decade, to achieve net zero by 2050 in keeping with the science.”
