Hashtag#What’s your Profession ?
For some people, answering this is easy— Hashtag#Doctor, Hashtag#Lawyer, Hashtag# Teacher – Two words, and you’re done!

But for those of us working in sustainability, it’s never that simple.

Every time someone asks, I have to pause and think: do I say sustainability management? ESG? Compliance? Climate Change Adaptation Strategist? Human rights and social safeguards? The truth is, it depends on who’s asking.

It’s not that we’re a jack-of-all-trades-it’s that our work doesn’t fit into one neat box. We deal with complex, interconnected challenges that require a mix of expertise. Sustainability isn’t just one thing; it’s about balancing hashtag#People, Hashtag# Planet, Hashtag# Profit in a way that actually works.

So, if you ever catch someone in this space giving a long answer to a simple question, just know-it’s not because we don’t know what we do. It’s because we do a lot, and it;s hashtag# ALL THAT MATTERS, eager to reimagine the future as a more socially and environmentally just world .

The demands for this profession require extensive knowledge of SDGs. The concepts will be applied in future sustainability reports, in which I intend to make the transversality between the SDGs and the company’s sustainable actions, without losing sight of the need to maintain a healthy environment for this and future generations. I am also interested in ways civil society can measure their impact in the language of the SDGs to help contribute to the larger goals.

I have used various informal learning resources, such as online platforms and discussion groups, to enhance shared learning. My experience has been engaging, especially in self-directed education. These approaches can be useful for fostering collaboration and critical thinking. In the future, I plan to use real-world scenarios and storytelling to initiate discussions on global issues. Reflective writing and guided peer discussions have also been effective in analyzing different perspectives. These methods encourage deeper engagement and meaningful conversations. I would love to hear how others have applied similar techniques and learn from their experiences in different learning contexts.

The act of gathering and sharing resources is a powerful way to build a strong learning community. By engaging with materials from past learners and contributing new insights, we create a dynamic space for knowledge exchange. I appreciate the opportunity to learn and will explore those that align with my interests. Additionally, I look forward to sharing resources that have been valuable in my learning journey, particularly those related to education, self-directed learning, and critical thinking. This collaborative approach ensures that future learners benefit from our collective experiences and diverse perspectives.

These reflections and activities have given me a deeper understanding of how interconnected sustainability issues are. One key learning moment for me was realizing how even small changes in one part of a system can have significant consequences elsewhere. It also made me more aware of the hidden factors that contribute to these challenges. Engaging in these activities has helped me see the value of different perspectives and the importance of considering both local and global impacts when addressing sustainability issues.

As someone deeply passionate about sustainability, I’ve always sought ways to involve others in thinking and talking about these critical issues. For me, it’s not just about personal engagement, but also about fostering collective awareness and action. This has been my endeavour since the time this website and Blog created in 2021.
